A Brief Profile

 

 

Mukesh Banka is a freelance Yoga/Fitness Trainer and a Karate/Self-defense Instructor. He provides fitness services to people of various age groups and lifestyles, having different fitness goals. He is working with the Edge Racquet Sports Academy as Fitness Trainer. He conducts yoga classes for a South Delhi based Marketing Company. He has worked with Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram (A leading School in India) as a Gym Trainer. He has also been associated with Karate/Fitness training programme of National Security Guards (India’s Premier Anti-Terrorist Force) and various other institutions.

 

Mukesh Banka hails from Himachal Pradesh. His father was in the Indian Air Force and, therefore, he got educated in different schools in several parts of India. This has given him a versatility and adaptability right from his childhood. He was introduced to the art of Yoga as a kid while studying in school. He took special interest in it and received personal instructions from his teacher for a period of 3 years.

 

His yoga classes include classical Hathayoga asanas and Pranayama.  He uses Hathayoga for posture correction, strengthening of weak muscles or ligaments, general well-being, and improving flexibility (A necessary and most neglected content of major fitness programmes). Pranayama techniques are also used to improve VO2 Max and aerobic conditioning along with long distance running and other forms of exercises. He also uses yogic exercises as a way to reduce stress, improve/boost immunity system, detoxification etc.

 

He discovered the treasures of karate in 1989 while he was studying for his graduation. He started with ShotoKan style of karate in Una. After this Karate School was closed down due to inadequate students, in 1991 he shifted to another Karate school that taught GojuRyu Karate. In 1993 he started teaching Karate at Mount Carmel School, UNA (H.P.) He taught there for one year. In 1996 he moved to Delhi and joined another school of Karate called Seido Karate. Then he also joined Kyokushin Karate, a full-contact style of karate. Now he conduct self-defense classes for small group of students.

 

He is a Life Sciences Graduate from Himachal Pradesh University. While doing his graduation, he took special interest in the study of human musculo-skeletal structure and nutritional requirements because of his interest in fitness and exercise-sciences. This has given him a scientific insight into working of the human body.

 

His training routine consists of all essential elements of a good exercise – cardiovascular training, resistance training, and stretching. He uses a combination of traditional Karate, yoga, free weights, plyometrics, circuit training, cardio-vascular workouts etc. He has helped people from all walks of life - kids, young people, senior executives, housewives, workingwomen, and defense & paramilitary personnel – to attain their fitness goals. He has also taken part in various Karate tournaments, seminars, training camps and demonstrations.

 

Mukesh Banka keeps himself up-to-date about the latest developments in the field of physical fitness sciences and allied arts. He can read, write and speak Hindi and English fluently and he can communicate in Punjabi with ease. He would like to share with other people his knowledge and expertise in developing a fit & healthy body, mind and spirit and thus help in building a stronger and fitter society.
